The festival — which is quite foodie-friendly this year — kicks off with a dinner hosted by Sergio Esposito, famed wino and author of Passion on the Vine: A Memoir of Food, Wine, and Family in the Heart of Italy. Eat it, Giada.

The Empty Nest

Apparently our parents weren't the only ones who celebrated their new office space over champagne and a new cat. Two essayists will share their stories from Empty Nest: 31 Parents Tell the Truth About Relationships, Love and Freedom After the Kids Fly the Coop.

Salon Du Festival

Local artists perform at this First Person Salon. Bonus just-in content for Okie Noodling fans: There will also be a screening of Hooked: Philly's Urban Anglers, a documentary about Schuylkill fishermen.

Local author and Temple prof Lori Tharps reads from her memoir, which recounts her time in Spain researching the country's history of slavery.

Old City's Fork hosts brunch and some recipe-swapping with memoirist Kim Sunée, who — after living in Korea, New Orleans and France — has a deep, delicious and complicated relationship with food.
