Each year, Chestnut Hill College and the Northwest Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network, a nonprofit devoted to providing food and shelter to the region's homeless, team up to put food in our bellies. All of the night's proceeds go to NPIH, which raised more than $10,000 at last year's event. Sorgenti Arena, Chestnut Hill College, 9601 Germantown Ave., 215-247-4663, chc.edu.

Pop's Playground Beef & Beer
Sat., Nov. 8, 7 p.m., $20-$25

But with the renovation of the park comes expenses, which pile up for donation-driven projects like this. That's why orgs like the New Kensington Community Development Corp. and Franklin's Paine are taking action with this hungry man's fundraiser. Roast beef, ziti, meatballs and salad will be provided by Primo Pizza with additional catering services from Peggie's Pantry. Beer will be provided by Philadelphia Brewing Co. (there'll also be a full cash bar). All proceeds benefit Pop's. Call or go online for tickets. VFW Post 22, Frankford Avenue and Sergeant Street, 215-668-3340 or 267-746-9428, popsplayground.org.

Nice selection, something for everyone. I think I will try the beef and beer: fits my price range and ambiance requirements. Also fulfills my philanthropic endeavor fro the week.
Thanks for the heads up!
