Welcome to the Terrordome 2: Back in the Habit | Fri.-Sat., Nov. 21-22, 9 p.m., $10 ($15 for both nights), M Room, 15 W. Girard Ave., secretpants.net
Last year, local comedy troupe Secret Pants attracted a crowd of a couple hundred to its humor extravaganza, Welcome to the Terrordome. Not impressed? An audience that size was the equivalent of a sold-out Central Park concert to most Philly comedians.
"There are a lot of very talented people in the city and great shows that are only being seen by 10 or 15 people," says Bryce Remsburg, a member of Secret Pants. "There's a lot going on, but nobody knows it's going on."
This weekend, Secret Pants is teaming up with other Philly and New York groups for Welcome to the Terrordome 2: Back in the Habit, which is expected to be twice as big and just as uncouth as the last. Each night, which will be hosted by local funnyman Kent Haines, will feature four sketch groups and two standup comics.
What type of comedy should one expect from a troupe named Secret Pants? They won the "Dirtiest Sketch in Philadelphia" title at a recent Khyber competition, and acts about necrophilia and the late Heath Ledger have all been in order at one point, says Remsburg, who describes his group as "sketch comedy for people who don't like people." "We're definitely not PG-rated," he adds, in case you missed that bit about sex with dead people.
