After singing lead for trip-hop band Quintero over the last few years, Bevin Caulfield sounds like a soulful folkie on her first solo CD, The Living. "The songs are mostly about my experiences the last years in Philly," says Caulfield, who moved to the city from rural South Jersey in '04. "I also have a love/hate thing for the city. I love the excitement, stimulation and art, but things like the intensity of crime and pollution are really scouring to my soul and boggling to my mind." For The Living she's recruited drummer Fred Berman (Amos Lee) to lay a boom on some tracks, and got her multi-instrumentalist bandmate Ish Quintero to help perfect the laidback sound.
