ROCK/POP/SHOWCASE

Y'all won't have Sara Sherr to kick around much after Jan. 31's Sugar Town anniversary gig. Not until June at the earliest. The Tritone DJ/booker babe will be busy planning her April wedding and May honeymoon throughout the next several weeks. So while you'll want to get your kisses and tears in now, boys, you'll also want to celebrate The Friggs at this show as they'll pay tribute to the likes of L7 and Bikini Kill. But fuck L7 and Bikini Kill. Where's the tribute to Palmyra Delran (aka Lisa Cortes, pictured) and her greatest hit? Delran may have played with Ben Vaughn, the Santa Marias and Pink Slip Daddy in her time. But the Friggs guitarist/drummer with the Pebbles hairdo long embraced the best of that Bomp style garage fizz — that fried fuzz Yardbirds tone that mixed early Stooges grime with oopsy-daisy pop. Celebrate Delran, man.
