It's Valentine's Day and we're all in love. Celebrating amour with a pinch of avant-garde, Sherman Arts' Rich Wexler teams up with local artists and the Midwives Collective to explore what makes our hearts skip a beat or break in two. "It's not a show about romantic love," Wexler says. "Some people love pets or their car." This different sort of love is expressed and highlighted in each participating artist's work.
Inspired by or made of found objects or images found on street corners, dusty attics and thrift shops, the pieces include sculptures by wilderness sojourner Andrew Richardson; portraits of pampered pets by former Indianapolis-based artist Mary Reese; and Amanda Miller's hauntingly charming narrative of found-image illustrations, Ominous Cloud (pictured). "I Found Love" will also showcase Wexler's eclectically vibrant collection of found video and photographs. "There's part of it that's voyeuristic," says Wexler. "The personal history that people encountered, images of family, war, death, work, vacations. It's all there. These images are history."
