With its signature taste, low price and good looks, a can of PBR is more than just beer. For some, it's a muse. Commemorating America's best circa 1893, the Philadelphia Independent Craft Market is hosting a PBR-themed craft challenge and sale. Co-organizer Julie Raboczi's idea for the event stemmed from her own PBR jewelry, which garnered a positive response from the intoxicated public."There are a lot of PBR lovers out there and it's a good beer for our city — consistently good and inexpensive," says Raboczi. "It's like our breakfast."
Exploring what Raboczi describes as a "Pabst subculture," this weekend's event will feature local artists' tributes to the red, white and blue can. Pieces include PBR-themed tube socks, aprons, light-up ornaments, stones, key caddies, cupcake toppers and prints.
The PBR lovin' doesn't end there: Local band The Sideshow Prophets will play their songs about the brew, and The Great Unknown, Univox and Kill You in the Face will also perform. The winner of the crafting challenge — which you can still register for — will go home with a fridge full of PBR. Can't craft to save your life? Worry not, for everyone's a winner at the Crafting Challenge: The $6 entry fee gets you all-you-can-drink Pabst.
