That '80s Show
The '80s were responsible for some pretty tacky things — big hair, spandex, Richard Simmons. The cheesiest product of the decade, though, is undoubtedly its music. The Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus has compiled more than a dozen of the period's love-to-hate songs — including The Pointer Sisters' "I'm So Excited," Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and Diana Ross' "I'm Coming Out" — into a two-hour concert. The PGMC admits this may cause an adverse reaction in some audience members.
"You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll hurl!" says Sandy Smith, PGMC spokesperson. "For those of you who are able to remember the '80s, it's going to be a great journey in time. And for those who aren't, it's going to be a good lesson on why those old people did what they did."
The chorus members also choreographed dance moves to the songs, and will be donning some flashy cheerleader, football player and "Walk Like an Egyptian" outfits. So long as they don't wear shoulder pads, we approve.
