Artist / photographer Amber Lynn Thompson cannot be described in just a few words. In an interview, she identified as “Mary Poppins cupcake princess” and showed up with props that weighed more than she does. Her truest love also appears with her at retro sugar palace Franklin Fountain — Miss Pinky Polkadots, who led a tough life on the street before meeting her doting mother. A sly subversive touch runs through Amber Lynn’s hyper-feminine style, often in the form of inappropriate levels of formality and frill for daily life. Smak Parlour’s vivid hues seem most appropriate for a girl who has more than once declared, “I’d rather get my daily caloric intake from candy!” Get more sugar shock when her art gallery/boutique, Amberella, opens at the Piazza at Schmidt’s in May.
