ROCK/POP/FOLK

The titular conjunction of Poseidon and the Bitter Bug (Vanguard) underscores the Indigo Girls' duality: Amy Ray's best lyrics are strikingly specific, whether she's lamenting dead friends or military misadventures; Emily Saliers' are more general, but no less heartfelt, tales of personal evolution. But like the album's two discs — one mostly acoustic, one all acoustic — the stylistic differences are merely a matter of degree.
