The crucifixion has captured the attention of countless artists, who have reimagined the iconic scene again and again. But where most people see a religious allegory, Amie Potsic sees something much more basic and universal: a wound. Fascinated by the role of the wound in Christianity, Potsic was driven to explore scars in everyday life. "Skin Stories" draws a parallel between symbolic pain and actual healing; the show brings together her photographs of crucifixion statues and scarred bodies for the first time and includes audio tracks of her human subjects sharing their scar stories.
