Snowstorm's shows typically last no more than 10 minutes or so, but the brevity is less a matter of "leave 'em wanting more" than a strategy of "leave 'em shell-shocked and dazed." The drum and bass duo rages through a dozen songs in the time it takes most bands to tune up, but why fuck around? There's no reason to home in on a target when you're carpet-bombing. The two-piece assault unit even sports uniforms, all-white low-budget ninja garb with underwear-on-the-outside superhero tights and headpieces somewhere between beekeepers' hoods and the face-stockings of bank robbers. The band's new record, out on fellow noisemaker Dave Smolen's Malleable Records, squeezes 12 songs onto a 7-inch, all rapid-fire double-bass drum blasts and intricately bludgeoning four-string riffs, but may destroy your needle in the playing. It's really something to experience live, even if the walk from your car to the venue may last longer than the gig itself.
