The Wire owes a lot to Elmore Leonard. Those familiar literary names in the credits — Richard Price, Dennis Lehane — took their tight, seamless dialogue and realistic, enthralling-but-not-sensationalistic sense of mystery from the master. Now on his 43rd novel, Road Dogs, Leonard revisits some familiar characters — namely Jack Foley from Out of Sight, Cundo Rey from LaBrava and Dawn Navarro from Riding the Rap. What, Chili Palmer was busy?
