Pig Iron Theatre Co.'s genre-pushing is perhaps the polar opposite of a classic musical, but they have one thing in common: "There's a moment where the emotion gets heightened enough where you must burst into song," says Pig Iron artistic co-director Dito van Reigersberg. "That's an amazing moment in theater." In Radio Ga Ga, company members will perform songs from past shows, backed by a full band. "We have a love of music and its power in the theater," says van Reigersberg, who once co-wrote a song from the perspective of Samuel Beckett. "We're just placing it in a more experimental context."
