Leave it to good ol' Merge Records to keep the indie rock flames burning strong. Seattle's Telekinesis recently dropped its top-notch, nearly eponymous power-pop debut, Telekinesis!, through the trusty, durable Chapel Hill imprint. I've just got a minor punctuation quibble: The record's a blast, but it's especially in concert, in the irresistibly peppy, grinning presence of drummer/frontman Michael Benjamin Lerner and his scrappy young bandmates, that the band fully earns that exclamation mark.
