Katie Cavuto's got a lot on her plate at the moment — luckily, she wants to share. Tap into her foodie knowledge at this class. Owner of Healthy Bites and current competitor on The Next Food Network Star, Cavuto is all about healthy, sustainable cooking. Here, she'll reveal useful tips about working with local, seasonal ingredients. Participants will also learn how to pair the food they make with Pennsylvania wines, which will be offered in tasting portions. Participants will walk away with some newfound appreciation for the fruits (and vegetables) of Pennsylvania's labors. Philly Kitchen Share, 1514 South St., 267-808-0729, phillykitchenshare.com.
The Chefs' Dinner for PAWS, a Philly nonprofit out to save the homeless and abandoned pets of Philadelphia, will feature four courses of wine-paired food prepared by more than 30 of the city's top chefs, including Michael Solomonov of Zahav, Georges Perrier of Le Bec-Fin, Terence Feury of Fork, Guillermo Pernot of Cuba Libre and Chris Scarduzio of Table 31. This event, though pricey as all get-out, will give diners the opportunity to meet with these esteemed chefs, dine on tasty, innovative food and throw their weight behind PAWS' efforts to save and preserve the lives of local animals. Hidden City Philadelphia, which organized the one-of-a-kind multilocation arts fest that runs through June 28, has teamed up with Dutch Umbrella to host a celebration of the cuisine of Philadelphia. Guests will dine on dish samples from an array of restaurants, including El Vez, National Mechanics, Café Spice, Swanky Bubbles and Trio, as well as participate in a live auction — prizes up for grabs include a wine tasting with Greg Moore of South Jersey's Moore Brothers. Tickets for food and nonalcoholic drinks (available at hiddencityphila.org) are $10 ahead of time but twice as much at the door, so plan ahead. An open-bar pass — sold only at the door — is an additional $10. The Armory of Rittenhouse, 22 S. 23rd St., 267-597-3808, hiddencityphila.org.
Who cares if you’re not Irish or Scottish? You can still attend the Celtic Fling and Highland Games Festival. The two-day shindig will include Celtic music, athletic competitions, dancing and, most importantly, traditional foods from the region. Twenty-two kitchens will dish out corned beef, mince and taddies, Irish bangers and more, but if you’re looking to relax with a pint and a sit-down meal instead, the Swashbuckler Brewery and Restaurant, located on the grounds, can appease your needs with wines from Mount Hope and a slew of beers from the U.K. Let us know if you see any leprechauns while you’re out there. Mount Hope Winery, 2775 Lebanon Road, Manheim, 717-665-7021, parenfaire.com.
