For an affectionate spoof co-produced by Philadelphia Theatre Co. and starring ComedySportz veterans Mary Carpenter, Eoin O'Shea and Dave Dritsas, Chicago-based Second City improv masters T.J. Shanoff and Ed Furman immersed themselves in all things Philly for three weeks, penning sketch comedy and songs that make an all-original tribute to our city. But is 21 days enough time to master the long history, complex issues and peculiar traditions that define us? Some of the Philly phenomena they've discovered: It's the only place where the phrase "John Wanamaker's giant organ" isn't creepy; and — two words — Milton Street.
July 8-26, $39, Suzanne Roberts Theatre, 480 S. Broad St., 215-985-0420, philadelphiatheatrecompany.org.
