There's a 50 percent chance Gwen Stefani will be at the Philadelphia Record Fair. Well, sort of. "Some guys in NYC said she is a big record collector," says coordinator Jamie Dillon, "and never misses a good fair." With more than 40 vinyl vendors from around the world, it's hard to argue that it won't be good, anyway.
"Think of the most obscure genre, such as psychedelic religious music played by long-forgotten cults from middle America," says Dillon. "All of this and more will be there."
During the first two hours, it's $10 to enter; it'll be free afterward. That's because, as ICA's marketing director, Jill Katz, says, "the best pickings will be earlier." Proceeds will go to Chinatown art gallery Vox Populi, so you may as well get there early to support a great cause. And who knows? You might end up fighting over an underground pop-punk album with the Hollaback Girl herself.
Sat., July 11, 9-11 a.m., $10; 11 a.m.-5 p.m., free; Institute of Contemporary Art, 118 S. 36th St., 215-898-7108, icaphila.org.
