With a bouncy blond mop top sharply juxtaposing the authority residing in his powerful limbs, Matthew Prescott was a bolt of lightning in BalletX's Summer Series this weekend at the Wilma. The Joffrey Ballet-trained freelance dancer, who leapt alongside Neve Campbell in the 2003 film The Company, ain't bad to look at. But it's his playful, fluid sense of motion combined with impeccable control of that towering frame that makes us wish Prescott would stick around Philly awhile longer.
Ask any Catholic schoolgirl who outwitted the dress code with earrings and makeup: Limitation can be good for inspiration. Ask Sheena Matheiken; she's wearing the same black dress for 365 days and documenting it on theuniformproject.com . Sometimes she gussies it up with a white collar and lace leggings, other times she unbuttons it and wears it like a long jacket. It's no surprise she had to wear a uniform to school as a youngin', too.

Jean Cocteau's exquisite and surreal La Belle et La Bête (1946) is one of the most beautiful movies of all time. Everything has a shimmery glow, from the elaborate costumes to the moving statues. Even the Beast looks good. Catch it Tue., Aug. 4, at Northern Liberties' Lawn Chair Drive-In.

In the Loop (see Sam Adams' review below) may be Armando Iannucci's first foray into film, but he's a TV vet. As a writer and producer, Iannucci introduced Britain to talk show I'm Alan Partridge (hosted by the great Steve Coogan). Partridge is an Anglo Stephen Colbert (if he only interviewed celebs, loved Abba and weren't in on the joke). Like most BBC sitcoms, it can be uncomfortable to watch — The Office's David Brent would think this guy is a douchebag. And that's exactly why it's funny. All three Partridge series are out on DVD. Get awkward.
