Paul Newman could slide effortlessly into any role. But then he'd flash that wide grin and the camera would focus on his blue eyes — those eyes! — and he was Paul Newman again. The International House's Ibrahim Theater hosts outdoor Newman-centric screenings throughout August, beginning with his breakout role as Brick in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Aug. 5) and ending with The Sting (Aug. 28). IHouse Director of Arts Renae Dinerman purposefully chose Newman's darker roles — namely The Hustler (Aug. 12) and Hud (Aug. 19). "A lot of people will look at Paul Newman films like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, or even a film like Slap Shot, and you see a lighthearted character," she says. "But he grew up on the stage.
