Buy a comic book, get a free beer. That's the deal from Duane Swierczynski, Philly pulp novelist, former City Paper editor in chief and veteran writer for Marvel Comics. Works like this: McGillin's is hosting events for authors who mention the bar in their books. Swierczynski did, calling it "Interesting Times Pub" in a story arc for Marvel's The Punisher. So, in a loopy, art-imitates-life moment, he'll be back in the bar signing copies of a comic based in part on time he spent in the bar. And the free beer? As he recently blogged, "Standing offer: Buy a copy of Punisher Max: Six Hours to Kill, and I'll buy you a pint of McGillin's 1860 IPA." Sounds like a win-win.
