Tiffin owner Munish Narula opened this addition to his curry-laden repertoire this past Tuesday. Located directly next door to his original Tiffin location, etc. specializes in street foods that aren't so common at Philly's Indian sit-down restaurants — specifically, kati rolls (flatbread wraps filled with chicken, minced lamb, paneer, etc.), paratha (pan-fried whole wheat flatbreads filled with meats and veggies) and, in a nontraditional move, thin-crust Indian-inspired pizzas topped with everything from butter chicken to tandoor-roasted vegetables (above). Michele DiPietro and Irene Landy's wine-savvy restaurant reopened last week after a short close for renovations. They've added high-top seating for 12 in the bar area, and spruced up the dining room with new hardwood floors, new tables and an airy pale yellow paint job. All these tweaks come with a brand-new chef and menu, too — Anne Elizabeth Coll, former exec chef at Susanna Foo, has introduced a seasonally conscious menu (lots of Asian influences) with nothing over $21. Entrées include pan-roasted Maine cod with curried lentils, preserved lemon, baby bok choy and a lemongrass emulsion; and brined/roasted Giannone chicken with Brussels sprouts, Chinese sausage hash and star anise sauce. Verdad

Chef Nick Farina, who just closed his Blush Restaurant in Bryn Mawr, is behind the line at Verdad, open for about two weeks in the space that formerly housed Carmine's Creole Café. The menu's small plates, with the food culling influences from a handful of Spanish-speaking countries. There are ceviche and taco selections, along with higher-end eats like lobster served with Serrano ham, and duck breast with grilled pineapple and cherry tequila sauce.
