Emerging from a lengthy hiatus, semi-local trio S PRCSS no longer finds itself in an world where writers use nebulous descriptors like "angular" and people know exactly what they mean. So how to discuss this much-missed band? The bass does its thing, the guitar juxtaposes with something completely different. The drums rattle and shake, the cuts groove in three-minute spats. Their first new cuts in about five years — the very D. Boon-ish "Oblamma," the comparatively streamlined "Nazi Millionaires" — are streaming on sprcss.com (an appropriately minimal Web site from the band that gave us the record MNML), and they sound sharp and fresh as ever. The lexicon might have changed, but the trio isn't missing a beat.
