At three and a half minutes, "When I'm Gone," the first single from Everything Goes Wrong (due out Sept. 8 on In the Red), is more than a minute longer than eight of the 10 songs on Vivian Girls' deliciously bite-size debut. They use the extra time wisely, though, for a sweet static-and-noise jam.
