Having made the CD-R rounds since January, Artful Rifle — the excellent full-length debut from Fishtown noisepop sextet Gildon Works — is finally getting a proper (re-) issue. If you haven't tuned in yet, get the record and let it and rattle your bones. Call it the sunny side of Sonic Youth meeting the blistering side of Yo La Tengo. Or you can name-drop the band of your liking; the music is rich in reference points. Just know that the beat is restless, the overdrive relentless, and if we're lucky, the release party will whip singer-guitarist Gerard Angelini into enough of a frenzy that he chucks his instrument into the shimmering back wall of Johnny Brenda's. He does that sometimes.
