Lili Añel

To celebrate the launch of her newest recording, Every Second in Between, hear a hard-to-categorize mix of originals by one of the most powerful singers in the Delaware Valley.

Sept. 26, Tin Angel, 20 S. Second St., 215-928-0770, tinangel.com.

Indian Ocean

Serious rockers from India mix traditional instruments and scales, along with bold vocals in indigenous languages, into the rock template.

Oct. 3, Harrison Auditorium, Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology, 3260 South St., 215-205-0264, penn.museum.

Steve Martin and The Steep Canyon Rangers

Banjo is no joke, no matter how often Steve Martin's used it as a prop. Since the release of The Crow: New Songs for the Five-String Banjo (Rounder) earlier this year, bluegrassers have eagerly anticipated a live performance of the comedian's original songs.

Oct. 19, Kimmel Center, 300 S. Broad St., 215-893-1999, kimmelcenter.org.

Tabla Ecstasy

Think tabla chamber ensemble for this latest flight of imagination from Indian classical drumming genius Pandit Divyang Vakil. Percussionists: Miss this one to your eternal regret.

Oct. 24, Painted Bride Art Center, 230 Vine St., 215-925-9914, paintedbride.org.

Keb' Mo'

With slow and smooth vocals, down-home finger-picked blues on a resonator guitar, the man is a magnet.

Nov. 7, Keswick Theatre, 291 N. Keswick Ave., Glenside, 215-572-7650, keswicktheatre.com.

Cherish the Ladies

No better group for hearing "pure drop" — thoroughly traditional Irish music.

Nov. 15, Annenberg Center, 3680 Walnut St., 215-898-3900, annenbergcenter.org.

Sara Tavares

This singer/composer/guitarist provides a nice treat for lovers of sweet melodies, Cape Verde and the Portuguese tongue.

Nov. 20, Kimmel Center.

Loudon Wainwright III

Who would have dreamed that the man who invented snarking was a Charlie Poole fan? The Poole tribute recording High, Wide and Handsome (2nd Story Sound) is an outstanding, respectful reworking of some of the funniest songs ever to come out of the American South, along with originals inspired by Poole and his compatriots.

Dec. 4, Keswick Theatre.
