Before Krautrock was a genre designed to teach young bands words like "motorik," it was an explosion of post-psychedelic/pre-art-rock noise that Neu! and Can pioneered. Still no one steered that roar into something as mad and marauding as Faust. From 1971 to the present day (C'est Com...Com...Compliqué came out in March), Jean-Hervé Péron and Werner "Zappi" Diermaier have made a career of turning chaos into something malleable, gentle and trance-adelic. But how? Find out as the duo work with participants in sessions the day before their gig. From their invitation: "The general workshop focus is to create an interactive, dynamic situation for exploring communication and exchange via live musical presentation, improvisation and discussion, with the goal of 'liberating and enhancing creativity' as well as 'reducing established patterns of control.'" If you're in — with the end result being you'll play an original piece with Faust — make your setup small and mobile. No monster amps. Leave the monstrosity to Faust.
