"Greg and I used to laugh about how we'd been around as tap dancers forever," chuckles Maurice Hines, older brother of the late, great Gregory. "We'd say we were like dinosaurs." The brothers started with soft shoe at ages 5 and 7, respectively; with dad drumming accompaniment, they performed as Hines and Hines. This homage to the tradition of tap, honoring talents ranging from the Nicholas Brothers to Fred Astaire, first came to the Annenberg in 2005, just two years after Gregory's death. In this restaging, Maurice will tap alongside film images of his brother. It's an emotional highlight for Maurice — and for us, too.
