When DJ Klembott got tired of the nightlife scene, she decided to throw a different kind of party altogether — a family-oriented celebration of autumn. Her idea morphed into the first Women's Fall Festival, where female business owners, artists and musicians can get together to showcase their accomplishments. DJ Klembott (Kristen Klem by day) collaborated with four other local women to design this event. "We want these women to have a space to network," says Klem, "and appreciate both their own work and other women's work." Pop-rock band Dangerous Ponies, DJ Kathy Gibson and other musicians will perform throughout the day, while female vendors like jewelry designer Leah Coonan and hairstylist Jes Alemi will sell their wares. Vendors will also raffle off prizes, including massage therapy sessions; and kid-friendly events like pumpkin painting will be available. Best of all, though, the festival is a fundraiser for Women Against Abuse, which is something you can likely be much more proud of than your last nightlife experience.
Sat., Oct. 3, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., free, Jefferson Square Park, Fourth Street and Washington Avenue, 215-592-3459, womensfallfest.org.
