It's easy to see Jason Crook as an opportunist: He's expanding his gay-friendly décor boutique, Philadelphia Home Art Garden, into a clothing store during the weekend of OutFest. But customers have been requesting PHAG-branded apparel for years. "Not everyone has the need to purchase pillows as much as they would a new belt and scarf," says Crook. Located on the second floor of PHAG, Men's Mezz will feature a gold mine of local and lesser-known designers, including Nixon and Ginch Gonch (pictured), as well as in-house PHAG tees, undies, belts and hats. And despite its inflated ego, PHAG hasn't forgotten its sustainable mission. During opening week, customers can purchase an eco-friendly PHAG tote for $5 with a $50 Men's Mezz purchase.
Opening Sat., Oct. 10, 11 a.m.-8 p.m., 1225 Walnut St., 215-627-0461, thephagshop.com.
