Nobel-winner Gnter Grass' rarely seen 1957 play, presented by up-and-coming Quince Productions, follows twitchy killer Bollin (Robert Cutler) stalking victims who are all flattered by his attentions. A "systematizer," Bollin stumbles over his need to document his deeds while pestered by eerily amoral teens (Katie Gould and Robert DaPonte) who tease him and take his stuff. That the play's central and sympathetic character is a notorious killer is just part of the absurdity in Rich Rubin's production; Andrew Thompson's clever set — institutional walls cut with labeled doors hiding furniture and props — amplifies the twisted darkness in which Grass (best known for The Tin Drum) excels.
