Philly's been good to Jean-Baptiste Regnard. The owner of Baltimore-based clothing company Squidfire, which now churns out underwater creature-inspired tees, shoes, totes and jackets to 90 stores internationally, got his start by selling T-shirts out of an old Caddy. It was in those early days that the owner of Old City's Lost+Found boutique purchased a few of Regnard's tees and spread the word about his designs. And recently, the restaurateur of Honey's Sit 'N Eat gave Regnard a pro bono placemat ad for his first-ever Philly craft show, plus a "scholarship" to cover the cost of a vendor. "Philly has been supportive of us," says Regnard. "I want to give back." So he's bringing his Squidfire craft show, usually based in Baltimore, to this brotherly-lovin' city. More than 45 vendors will hawk jewelry, purses, toys, home décor, accessories, prints and even massages, and Apsara Cutting Edge will offer free haircuts. Expect more than just Chesapeake Bay crafters — Regnard also invited locals Girls Can Tell, Brainstorm Print and Design, and Brookadelphia to the event.
Sat., Oct. 17, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., free, Old Pine Community Center, 401 Lombard St., 215-627-2493, squidfire.com.
