Art would be a lot more fun if you could dance to it. With that notion in mind, Group Motion Dance Co. has developed an expressionistic, interactive program incorporating prominent Philadelphia sculptures along Ben Franklin Parkway. During the hourlong performance, spectators move with the troupe as they prance along the Parkway accompanied by music projected from boom boxes, individual sound systems and our own synced-up iPods (visit Group Motion's Web site ahead of time to download the show's soundtrack). Choreographer Manfred Fischbeck was inspired by the form and spatial parameters of sculptures like The Thinker and Iroquois. "We want people to get a sense of the dynamics of this particular area of the city, which has amazing art."
