In the quarter-century since Network for New Music has emerged as a world-class ensemble, they've attracted many world-class composers. Pulitzer Prize-winner Bernard Rands has forged a strong relationship to Network over the years, and his singular, ethereal music ushers in this milestone season. The program features music for mezzo-soprano and chamber ensemble, including a work inspired by the ancient poetry of Sappho. These musicians, including guest vocalist Janice Felty, have performed this material before, and so this is a rare chance to hear a strong piece of new music more than once.
