Childhood friends/filmmakers Nick Prueher and Joe Pickett thumb their noses at Blu-ray discs, streaming video and other fancy-pants movie technologies. They prefer a simpler, purer form of entertainment — old, unwanted VHS tapes. For the past five years, they've scoured the nation's garage sales and thrift stores for these obscure, unintentionally funny videos, which they then screen and provide live commentary for at their Found Footage Festival. The show's new material includes clips of exercise videos, horrid Saturday morning cartoons and an instructional film for a mechanical masturbation device. (Yes, you'll see plenty of full-frontal male nudity.) "As long as people have bad ideas and access to video equipment," says Prueher, "then we're in no danger of running out of material."
Sun., Nov. 15, 7 and 9 p.m., $10, Connie's Ric Rac, 1132 S. Ninth St., 215-279-7587, foundfootagefest.com.
