If Woody Allen were a Protestant from Idaho, his shtick may not have stuck. So it's a good thing he's a Jew from Brooklyn. The Jewish community sure does have one biting, distinct funny bone — but why? In her lecture, humorist Sara Felder will recount the history of Jewish humor and attempt to answer that question. Her theory? Survival, plain and simple. "You may have the guns, but I have the punch lines," she says. "Humor is the revenge of the powerless."
