As dubsteppers go, 20-year-old Liam McLean (aka Bristol producer Joker) seems nearly as focused on sparking dancefloors as he is on inducing woozy, head-nodding hypnosis. His tracks, typically dotted with chintzy video-game bleeps and grungy G-funk synthesizers, have a queasy, menacing spookiness and an intoxicating instability that's linked him to quasi-genres with names like "wonky" and "aqua-crunk," but he doesn't skimp on the Dirty South-infused kinetic energy either; expect plenty of bodies in motion when he takes over the Mad Decent Mausoleum this Friday.
