Three choreographers with three new dances should make for a powerful BalletX trifecta this weekend at the Wilma. The lineup: Former Pennsylvania Ballet dancer Meredith Rainey looked at a calming painting of swollen waves on a beach and saw a dance. (Fittingly, he titled it They Break.) Meanwhile, former San Francisco Ballet corps member Alex Ketley presents Silt, which X co-director Christine Cox is calling "very intimate and soft." Finally, X's Matthew Neenan acknowledges the end of the '09 season with Last of the Year. More info: balletx.org.
In the late '80s/early '90s, the recently revived Tuff Crew was the freshest. In the past year, however, Too Tuff, the DJ at the center of the Philly hip-hop supergroup, has hit hard times, twofold. He's battling cancer and sitting in prison for an assault charge. This Saturday (8 p.m., $10, Tacony Billiards, 6201 Keystone St.), fans and friends will come together to show the love. Performers include Emcee Mechanism, H30, Sick Six, JB, Niz, Vixion — too many to mention.
Honestly, I'd throw down for a Deadmau5 ticket just to see his setup. It takes two buses, a trailer and a rental van to haul his kit to shows. The man in the mouse mask has a bigger rack than Dolly Parton, and he will rock you at the TLA on Sunday, guaranteed, with lush prog-house and technical wizardry.

... And now for something completely different, watch Monty Python Almost the Truth: The Lawyer's Cut (now on DVD), a revealing six-part doc featuring candid interviews with the five remaining Pythons. Each hourlong chapter focuses on a different era, from their pre-fame days in television to their post-Python careers. The first episode is the highlight, where each member describes how their upbringing informed their sense of comedy. John Cleese recounts the time his family bought their first TV; his father turned to him and said, "You don't think this will replace entertainment, do you?"
