Though the two cabaret stars say they didn't collaborate, Aimée Robidoux and Peter Andrew Danzig's shows are strikingly similar: Her performance cycles through a mix of hit songs to piece together a love story, while his pays homage to forgotten pop from the '90s, like Nikki Hassman's "Any Lucky Penny" and Blessid Union of Souls' "Light in Your Eyes." Robidoux, whose selection includes a little bit of everything — Carole King, The Cranberries, Bob Dylan — said it was easy to assemble a love story from unrelated songs. "It just goes through the whole journey," she says, "and crazily enough, it works."
