The Ukrainians are coming, and in full force — all stamping, jumping and playing musical instruments at the Kimmel. One of the last of the full-stage folk troupes that once populated the old Soviet Union, these Ukrainians never put their boots and tambourines aside when the Cold War ended. But Virsky Ukrainian National Dance Co. isn't clinging to old traditions; this is a huge outfit that has been performing around the world since 1937. Founded by Pavel Virsky in Kiev, the company's kept its roots intact without being too proud to add in other techniques and choreography. It's been called 18th-century breakdancing.

Comments

I took my 84 year old mother to see the Virsky Ukrainian show. I myself was amazed. The dancing and the colorful costumes just blew me away. I would defitely go see them again and would recommend everyone to see them should we be lucky enough for them to return.
