This decade and its impressively persistent '80s obsession have to come to an end sometime. How's January 2010 sound? That's the drop date for Philly-transplant rockers Free Energy's DFA Records debut, which, if this year's gloriously fat-free teaser EP is any indication, should pump us full of enough creamy '70s power-pop to kick-start 10 years of solid rock swagger. In the meantime, their final hometown gig of the '00s should offer plenty of reasons to be thankful.
