I'm just gonna fess up here: I heard Lissy Trullie's jangle-poppy cover of Hot Chip's "Ready for the Floor" and thought it was a band with a guy singer. That's just the kind of deep, throaty voice Elizabeth "Lizzy" McChesney's got going. The former model who walks that androgynous runway walk has gotten a lot of mileage out of a debut EP, Self-Taught Learner (released in February on American Myth and re-released in October on Downtown), whose best track is admittedly that Hot Chip cover. But with Suede's Bernard Butler now on board and a full-length due soon, Kung Fu Necktie may be the smallest venue they'll play in the foreseeable future.
