Looking for a little non-holiday fun? The smashing 11th Hour Theatre Co./Theatre Horizon co-production of Little Shop of Horrors, Alan Menken and Howard Ashman's darkly funny musical, moved from Horizon's Norristown home to Center City — and it's onstage for just one more weekend. Less cartoonish and more nasty than most versions, director Megan Nicole O'Brien's production features fresh takes on carnivorous plant Audrey II: both Aaron Cromie's clever puppet designs and sassy M.K. Hines as the first woman I've heard play the traditionally male-voiced role. Laura Giknis, Alex Keiper and Candace Thomas nearly steal the show as the sexy skid row chorus.
