"When I was little, my father was famous. He was the greatest samurai in the empire and he was the shogun's decapitator," says boy-narrator Daigoro, opening ninja mash-up movie Shogun Assassin, the Americanized compilation of the first two Lone Wolf and Cub films. Daigoro continues, "He wasn't scared of the shogun, but the shogun was scared of him." So when the shogun sends warriors to off his head-chopper but kills his wife instead, our titular hero goes on a faux-blood-filled vengeance spree, taking his young son — who does some killing of his own — along for the ride. It isn't the apex of the ninja movie, but it's a bloody good time.Fri., Dec. 18, 8 p.m., $10, with Seven Blows of the Dragon, Ibrahim Theater at International House, 3701 Chestnut St., 215-387-5125, ihousephilly.org.
