Christmas may dominate most of December, but once Dec. 26 hits it’s time to light the kinara. To kick off the seven-day holiday, eight groups, including Philadelphia Black Gay Pride, The COLOURS Organization and House of Blahnik, have organized the fourth annual LGBTQ Kwanzaa Celebration. The festivities will include light fare, entertainment and traditional ceremonies, such as a procession of elders and the pouring of libations. PBGP President Chris Alston says the event has grown over the past two years, with more than 200 attending in 2008. Looks like that other holiday is getting a run for its money.
