benefit
The band lineup is exactly what you'd expect out of a weed benefit jam: Agent Moosehead, Psychedelphia, The Big Dirty and DJ Ginkgo. Don't judge. Philly NORML has been pounding the pavement hard this past year, getting a medical marijuana bill introduced in Harrisburg and talking with the city about more lax arrest procedures. Is it run by stinky Disco Biscuits fans? Surely. But since when did having to talk to dirty hippies stop you from getting high?Fri., Jan. 29, 7 p.m., $5, Rotunda, 4014 Walnut St., 215-573-3234, therotunda.org.
As you mentioned in your write-up it's easy (and kind of funny) to judge,..but these myths and stereotypes are detrimental to the cause - and we are working hard to demonstrate that "we" are your teachers, office workers, lawyers, musicians, doctors, nurses, writers (for the City Paper), etc.
Sure, many/most of us living and working "in the mainstream" are forced to conceal this fact - thanks in part to the types of negative associations have been demonstrated - but rest assured: "dirty hippy" is just ONE of the MANY types of people which we are representing.
