Despite a huge burlesque following in London — the London Burlesque Week is celebrated each year — there isn't much of a demand for lace corsets and Dita Von Teese moves in Bristol. Which is why Nicole Carlin, founder of Bristol's POP Fizz Burlesque, is moving her business Stateside. The Philadelphia native sees burlesque as a way for women to connect with each other; she begins her workshops by saying, "This is not a class about how to please your boyfriend." Now POP Fizz has a permanent setup in Northern Liberties, where it will offer a series of workshops for women who want to boost their self-esteem and embrace their sexuality. The exhibition education starts off with a Valentine's Day "Seductive Movement" class, made for both taken and single ladies seeking body confidence. Candy and roses last a week, but these skills keep for a lifetime.Sat., Feb. 13, 2-4 p.m., $25, Dance Movement Collective, 954 N. Eighth St., 267-217-3499, popfizzburlesque.com.
