The ass-kicking heroine is more fanboy fantasy than actualized female. But Yun Ko ain't one of those gun-toting busty babes. The mysterious White Monkey saves the title character of Red Heroine, the sole intact kung fu film of the silent era, after raiding nasties pillage her home and kill her grandma. She emerges three years later, with the ability to fly, scale walls and disappear in a puff of smoke, leaving defeated enemies in her wake. If you're not in it for the strong lady lead, go for the Devil Music Ensemble, whose excellent original score is influenced by Chinese folk music and more modern kung fu movies.
