Finding artists to create work based on Charles Darwin was cake for the American Philosophical Society Museum. The museum collaborated with the Network for New Music and commissioned three poets and seven composers, including Maurice Wright, to create a Darwinian program. "Over 30 poems were submitted," says museum rep Elaine Wilner. "I thought we were going to get some negative comments about Darwin, but I guess if you're going to participate, you're going to say something positive." The concert will feature Randall Scarlata singing the poems, and a performance by Wright's eight-instrument ensemble, Darwiniana, accompanied by video art. Artists eager to get involved through poems, music and video? Charles would be proud. For more info see Suite Spot.
