See enough of the local indie dance scene and you'll notice there's a Philly vibe going on — a certain shared sensibility that makes our community special. But what does that feeling feel like in other performing arts hubs? Enter SCUBA National Touring Network for Dance, a co-op deal between Philadelphia and other U.S. cities, presenting as part of this year's Philadelphia Dance Projects. Imports hail from Minneapolis (The BodyCartography Project) and San Francisco (Jacinta Vlach/Liberation Dance Theatre), presenting pieces inspired by the human nervous system and George Orwell's Animal Farm, respectively. The local entry is Megan Mazarick, who continues to workshop Avatard, an absurdist sci-fi exploration of video-game fandom. Sounds like the best of two weird worlds.
